FRIDLI BUCHER
Mural, Ufhusen, Switzerland, 1993
Fridli Bucher from Ufhusen played a pivotal part in the peasants’ revolt of 1653 and for it he was sentenced to death by the Lucerne government. For a long time he lived on in a popular folk song. This song about his arrest and execution is the starting point for the mural that the two artists Thomas Birve and Hugo Schaer have created for the entrance hall of the new community building in Ufhusen.
