TAUBER
Melodrama with interior design, Kulturpanorama Lucerne, Switzerland, 1986
Design and direction: Hugo Schaer and Thomas Birve
Text: Heinz Zimmermann
Music: Urban Mäder
Tauber: Peter Haller
“Tauber” premiered in the Lucerne Kulturpanorama on the occasion of the 600-year anniversary of the battle of Sempach.
With the keyword “objection” Tauber consciously takes a position against hero worship. The theme of objection gradually emerged as an actualisation of the idea of the hero. Is the (conscientious) objector a possible hero of our time? This is the question the play explores in a differentiated and introspective manner.
“The “Tauber” project is meaningful from the point of view of cultural politics: Four artists have met, have here and now created a new work that leaps across traditional boundaries and breaks down the door to new territory.”
